Come to the CIARGA with family and friends and enjoy a family area where the little ones can visit the centre making use of a new creative and didactic environment specially designed for them.

Description
The family area operates at weekends during centre opening hours where you can find games and craft ideas related to the theme of the space. At the same time, the visit can also be extended with a family package of exercises to discover the old airfield that can be purchased at the CIARGA desk. In this activity, aviatrix Pepa Colomer leads both young and old to discover what it was like, what role it played, what personnel worked at the old airfield and what planes were there. A series of exercises and games in order to discover the CIARGA by yourself, encouraging active observation and playing.
The family space and the Discover the CIARGA package expand the possibilities of discovering the space and present new playful and participatory ways to bring the story to children adapted to the needs of the family audience

DISCOVER PENYAFORT CASTLE

Come to Penyafort Castle with family and friends and enjoy the Discover the Castle activity where, through a gymkhana, you can discover all of the history and the different epochs of the castle. Are you up for it?

Description
On the edge of Foix Park stands one of the most emblematic heritage enclaves of the Alt Penedès. Almost ten centuries old, the architectural ensemble of Penyafort Castle bears witness to the evolution of a territory that, on a local scale, concentrates some of the most significant events in the History of Catalonia.

Here you can enjoy various activities to have fun as a family such as the Discover the Castle package, in which Trap, one of the bats living in the castle, will guide you to discover the building through a series of exercises that will help you get to know about its history.

DISCOVER LA QUADRA

La Quadra is the space for the traditional dances and festes majors of the municipality. Many of the elements of the ‘seguici’, or retinue, are displayed there, the giants and the ‘little giants’, the dragons, the big heads and the various dances: ribbons, gypsies, devils, tambourines, sleigh bells, Serrallonga, shepherds, sticks, barrel hoops and dance of the Foix.

Description
The exhibition uses audiovisual and digital resources with the music and videos of the festes and a guide with information on all the dances of the festes majors. La Quadra becomes a meeting place for cultural entities and is open to visits, especially by schools.

Every first Sunday of the month from 10 am to 2 pm you can enjoy various activities and have fun as a family!

REMEIART

Remeiart came into existence in 2011 in Santa Margarida i els Monjos as a project to teach and disseminate knowledge about herbal remedies promoted by the Town Council with the collaboration of the local entities and economic fabric with the aim of promoting herbs in all their possible uses: health, welfare, food, botany, etc.

The Remeiart Fair is held every third Sunday in June at Penyafort Castle in Santa Margarida i els Monjos, and is entirely dedicated to the remedial herbs and all the products that can be made with them.

It is a fair designed to live it to the full, to enjoy strolling around smelling soaps, enjoying the crafts made with herbs, tasting liquors or food made with herbs or enjoying the wisdom of the people who make formulas to enhance health and well-being.

But it’s also a fair to learn. On the activities programme you will find a wide range of talks, workshops and activities that will help you spend the whole day with us.

Not forgetting a broad offer of workshops for the little ones, a picnic area with a bar, and the traditional herb sausages or a dotto train to access the Castle grounds.

TRANSHUMANCE FAIR

The Transhumance Fair is held in October in els Monjos and gathers producers and artisans of products related to livestock, wine and cava.

The Fair is part of the ‘Camí Ramader de Marina. From Cerdanya to the Penedès’ livestock path project, which stems from the concern of the municipalities of Santa Margarida i els Monjos, Lluçà and Llívia, among other bodies and entities, to preserve, enhance and promote transhumance and livestock tracks in Catalonia, devoting special attention to the ancient transhumant route that has allowed the movement of herds between the Pyrenees and the coast to the Penedès and the Garraf, since the middle ages.

The partnership agreement signed by the three municipalities demonstrates the desire to unite efforts and create synergies with the common goal of enhancing this historical, cultural and environmental heritage, and turn it into a resource to develop the economy and tourism at local and regional levels.

COME AND ENJOY CHRISTMAS IN SANTA MARGARIDA I ELS MONJOS

In December, come and enjoy the magic of Christmas at Santa Margarida i els Monjos. From the switching on of the Christmas lights and mappings that you will find on the facades of the Town Hall and the old schools of La Ràpita, to children’s activities to experience the magic of the Christmas festivities that you can find throughout this period in different parts of the municipality.

The Christmas Fair is held on the second Sunday of December from 10 am to 2 pm, in Pau Casals square where throughout the morning there is a wide assortment of Christmas products on sale at some thirty crafts and food stalls.

There are also fun activities for children and families, including the giant ‘Tió’ traditional Catalan Christmas gift-pooping log. Throughout the morning, children can make it poop gifts, and participate in the numerous scheduled activities.

Coinciding with the Fair, numerous bars and restaurants in the municipality offer Christmas menus at special prices.
